In China, where electric vehicle sales are increasing rapidly, the need for and investments in charging stations are also increasing. The figures show that the number of charging columns installed for electric cars has increased at a rapid pace this year to meet the ever-growing demand.

According to the balance sheet released as of the end of November, there are currently 4,95 million charging points in the country. According to the statement made by China's Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, this rate of increase is 107,5 percent on an annual basis. According to the association's data, in January-November this year, 2,33 million new charging columns have been added to the existing charging columns.

The number of new public charging stations has doubled from last year's; the number of special new charging columns more than quadrupled in the first ten months of the year compared to the same period last year. The growth rate detected in the number of charging facilities generally follows the pace of development of the new energy vehicle sector in the country. As a matter of fact, new energy vehicle sales in China reached 6,07 million units in the January-November period. This number is 2,6 times the new charging facilities established in the same period.
