Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality continues its inspections intensively against pollution caused by sea vehicles. In this context, the Environmental Protection and Control Department teams determined that a ship had polluted the Gulf of Izmit during their inspections. Examining the area where the Comoros-flagged dry cargo ship is located in Demiryeri, Izmit, the teams determined during the controls made by seaplane that the ship in question caused pollution by discharging petroleum-derived chemicals into the sea. Thereupon, the Metropolitan teams imposed a fine of 4 million 176 thousand liras on the ship.
DETERMINED FIGHT WILL CONTINUE
The Environmental Protection and Control Department teams, which immediately evaluate the complaints about marine pollution, will continue to carry out the necessary work with determination to protect the Gulf of Izmit against pollution from land and sea.
