Developed by the China Railway Engineering Equipment Group (CREG), “China Railway No. The tunnel boring machine named 1079”, which works on the principle of balancing the ground pressure, came off the production line at CREG Tianjin Company yesterday.
The tunnel boring machine will be used in the Silvan Project, which is under construction in Diyarbakır. With an excavation diameter of 11,16 meters, the machine is the largest land pressure balanced tunnel boring machine to be exported from China to Turkey.
With a length of 13,23 kilometers, the Silvan Tunnel has a maximum burial depth of 400 meters and an extremely high gas concentration. Studies show that there is a high risk of subsidence in the region due to the complex geological conditions.
In order to adapt to the features of the project, it was stated that the machine was designed with high stability, resistant to fire and explosions in its design.
