Bursa, a UNESCO city with its historical buildings and monuments, and a member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the 'craft and folk arts' category, is now included in the UNESCO Learning Cities Global Network.

A new one has been added to the works of the Metropolitan Municipality, which brought Bursa to the world showcase with all its values, especially its historical and cultural heritage. Bursa, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List with the Hanlar Region, Sultan Complexes and Cumalıkızık in 2014 with the efforts of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, was included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network last year in the field of 'crafts and folk arts', where tiles and Bursa silk are at the forefront. had happened. As a result of the persistent efforts of the Metropolitan Municipality, which is especially involved in international organizations within the scope of its promotional activities, Bursa has now become a member of the UNESCO Learning Cities Global Network (GNLC). Sakarya and Yozgat, along with Bursa, were included in the last expansion of the Learning Cities Global Network, which was created in 2013, developing dual learning and dialogue among member cities and supporting lifelong learning practices in world cities. With the latest expansion, the number of members has increased from 217 to 294 cities, and includes Bursa, Sakarya, Konya, Eskişehir, Hatay, Afyonkarahisar, Balıkesir and İzmir from Turkey.

Bursa, which is included in the Learning Cities Global Network program run by the UNESCO Lifelong Learning Institute in Hamburg, Germany, will be able to access up-to-date information on Learning Cities and share information with other cities; will be in contact with a network of experts and professionals.

UNESCO Turkey National Commission President Prof.Dr. M.Öcal Oğuz congratulated Bursa's membership in the UNESCO Learning Cities Global Network in a letter he sent to Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş.
