Havaist, which carries passengers to Istanbul Airport, increased its transportation fees by more than 30 percent at the beginning of September, while the annual increase rate exceeded 130 percent with the latest increase.
According to the news of Recep Bahar from the YeniMessage newspaper, the rate of increase in the last one year has exceeded 30 percent after the last 130 percent price increase for Havaist. With the latest hike, Havaist has become more expensive than THY.

To give an example, the passenger transportation fee from Yenibosna to Istanbul Airport increased from 46 liras to 60 liras with the last hike. The distance of the line in question is 36 kilometers. The fare per kilometer is 1.66 TL. On the same day, a passenger flew from Istanbul to Trabzon, paying 889 TL. The flight distance between Istanbul and Trabzon is 930 kilometers. The cost per kilometer is 96 Kurus! Therefore, Havaist is more expensive than the plane… If Havaist had carried passengers to Trabzon, which took about 18 hours with this logic, the fare would have been 1958 TL, because the highway between Istanbul and Trabzon is 1180 kilometers.
By the way, Havaist's one-way tariff for some districts is as follows: 4. Levent – 57 TL, Başakşehir – 52 TL, Kadıköy – 74 TL, Taksim – 67 TL, Sabiha Gökçen Airport – 85 TL. The distance between Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gökçen is 84 kilometers. Even on this line, the cost per kilometer exceeds 1 lira! Istanbul is doomed to Havaist because its alternative is a taxi. The cost of the 30-kilometer journey to the new airport by taxi in Istanbul exceeds 250 liras due to expensive private sector highways.
