The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has sent a letter of thanks to 12 thousand workplaces receiving OHS service, and a warning letter to 25 thousand workplaces that have not yet fulfilled their obligation to provide occupational health and safety services to their employees.

Legal regulations, inspections, projects, activities and collaborations continue to be implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, General Directorate of Occupational Health and Safety, in order to improve occupational health and safety conditions in workplaces and to employ employees in “decent” working conditions.

With the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 2012, which was published and entered into force in 6331, many new practices were initiated in the working life in order to control the risks in the workplaces. In the last 10 years, significant progress has been made in spreading the occupational health and safety culture in every part of the society with the dedication and support of the parties.

Occupational Health and Safety Services

In order to carry out occupational health and safety services at workplaces, methods such as appointing people with appropriate certificates among the people working in the workplace, undertaking the task by the employer by receiving relevant training, and receiving services from the joint health and safety units (OSGB) authorized by the Ministry are applied. Depending on the hazard class of the workplaces and the number of employees, the service periods vary, and the people assigned to the occupational health and safety services operate in many areas such as guiding the employer in the field of occupational health and safety, evaluating the risks, training the employees, and health surveillance.

12 thousand workplaces were thanked

The Ministry sent a letter of thanks to 12 thousand workplaces receiving OHS services, expressing the happiness felt by the employers for the value they place on their employees. In the said congratulatory letter; Reminding that receiving occupational health and safety services from OHS professionals does not remove the employer's obligation to take precautions, the importance of the employer's supervision and control was emphasized in order to achieve the expected improvement from these services.

In addition, in the article mentioning the practices of encouraging the gains to be made in occupational health and safety and supporting the financing of occupational health and safety services, it was stated that the workplaces in the very dangerous class and employing more than 10 employees will be provided with uninterrupted occupational health and safety services. In the article, which reminds the possibility of paying 3 percent discount on unemployment insurance employer's share for 3 years if there is no work accident resulting in death or permanent incapacity for work within 50 years, workplaces that are in the very dangerous class and employ less than 10 employees are provided with the services of occupational safety specialist and workplace doctor. It was stated that if they provide it from OSGB (or ÇASMER), they can benefit from monthly support payment by applying 1,6 percent of the daily earnings lower limit for each employee.

Warning Letter Sent to 25 Thousand Workplaces

A warning letter has been sent to 25 thousand workplaces that have not yet fulfilled their obligation to provide occupational health and safety services to their employees. In the warning letter sent by the Ministry, the importance and purpose of occupational health and safety services were expressed and the relevant workplaces were warned in this context. In the warning letter; Information about the support and incentive practices that workplaces can benefit from, from 17 thousand TL to 52 thousand TL for each month in which the violation continues, separately for each non-assigned occupational safety specialist, workplace doctor or other health personnel (2022). It was reminded that administrative fines may be applied according to the revaluation rate for the year.

E-Government (OHS-CLERK)

In order to enable the employees to work in a healthier and safer working environment, and to avoid the negative material and moral consequences of work accidents and occupational diseases, necessary assignments will be made and legal obligations will be fulfilled by making a notification through the OHS-CLERK system.
