The Metropolitan Municipality, which renews KentBis bicycles and directs people to bicycle transportation, has also made transportation easier for bicycle users with the new bicycle paths it has built throughout the city. Halil Şahin, who works as the Chief of Production at the Department of Parks and Gardens, stated that Mersin is suitable for bicycle use with its physical structure, climatic conditions and coastline, and stated that the number of Kentbis users is increasing day by day. Şahin shared the numerical data about Kentbis, whose technological infrastructure was developed, and said, “We have a total of 75 thousand users. There is an average of 10 thousand uses per month,” he said. Sharing the location information of 6 stations along the Adnan Menderes coastline, Şahin said, “There are 1,5 kilometer slices between each station. This; In order to provide maximum benefit to our citizens in terms of transportation. We have a distance of 7 kilometers between the first station and the last station," he said.
“Our aim is sports awareness and enjoyable time”
Speaking about the advantages Kentbis provides, Şahin said, “Our aim is to provide the advantage of driving on the coastline, by the sea, both as a transportation area and as a recreation area. At the same time, to ensure that our citizens have a pleasant and good time with the awareness of sports. We have 100 bikes. We have an average of 24-30 parking platforms in each of our stations. We leave 17 bikes available. Distribution is made by our authorized personnel. The reason why we leave empty space is that they do not have any difficulties during parking. The distribution of these is done during the day.”
Noting that they want more people to benefit from the advantages of cycling, Şahin said, “The majority of our users are young people. We also support students at affordable prices. At the seaside, against the view, they can come with their friends and families and use their bicycles here with peace of mind. Cycling is a means of transportation, sport, and a pleasant time. Saying that he has been using the Kentbis application since last year, Bekir Bıçakçı said, “I can do sports comfortably thanks to this application. I can get tired most of the time while walking, but cycling is more comfortable. Thanks to the bicycle, we can travel long distances along the coast easily. Most people do not have the opportunity to cycle. With the facilities provided by the Metropolitan Municipality, we can ride a bicycle at a very cheap price. Saniye Güner, who sees the bicycle as a means of both doing sports and relaxation, said, “When you get down to the seaside and ride a bicycle, you feel a relief.
