Ercan Airport's New Terminal Building to Become Operational in November

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a series of contacts in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Karaismailoğlu, who made inspections at Ercan Airport's new terminal under construction, met with TRNC President Ersin Tatar and TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu first visited the new terminal of Ercan Airport, which is under construction, as part of his contacts with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Karaismailoğlu, who made investigations, later held a meeting with the TRNC delegation.

NEW TERMINAL BUILDING WILL OPERATE IN NOVEMBER

Making a statement after the meeting, Karaismailoğlu said, “We held an important meeting to put our airport into full-fledged operation before November, together with its outbuildings. After this time, it is clear what everyone will do, and we will follow them. We examined the new airport and toured the runway. Indeed, a very beautiful airport terminal was built, befitting the TRNC. Hopefully, an airport worthy of the TRNC, with a runway where all planes can land, will be operational as of November. A project that all TRNC citizens can be proud of has emerged. There are very fine works left, and they will be finished within this period (the contractor company that has received the necessary instructions). That's why we determined who would do what in about 2 months, and we recorded them. We will follow them. There were additional costs and job increases that the contractor company wanted. As a result, we will complete whatever needs to be done to eliminate the shortcomings of this airport within 2 months.”

Emphasizing that the works on some highways in the TRNC are continuing and that they will be opened as of November, Karaismailoğlu stated that the TRNC's breakthroughs in tourism will increase with the disappearance of the effects of the epidemic process. Karaismailoğlu noted that they will continue to support the TRNC and that the problems will be overcome with cooperation.

WE HAVE CONSULTED TO CONTINUE INVESTMENTS IN TRNC

Karaismailoğlu, who met with TRNC President Ersin Tatar after his examinations, stated that they held consultations during the visit in order to continue the investments in the TRNC and to act quickly on this issue. Karaismailoğlu said, “A fully-fledged airport, befitting the TRNC, seems to have been completed. It is 99 percent finished but cannot be opened because 1 percent is not finished. As a result of our contacts today, we will complete all the deficiencies in the next 2 months and bring this airport to the stage where it will serve.”

THE NEW TERMINAL BUILDING IS A GIANT BUILDING SUITABLE FOR TRNC

Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu also visited the TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı. Stating that the problems with the new terminal of Ercan Airport in the TRNC have been resolved as of today, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that it is a gigantic structure befitting the TRNC. Karaismailoğlu pointed out that they have made important works in the field of highways in the TRNC and noted that they will open some roads together with the airport.
