Aybastı Persembe Plateau, which was allowed to fly in hot air balloons for sportive purposes in 2020 with the initiatives made, is now becoming an attraction center where flights are also made for tourism purposes. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has applied to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, is preparing to launch tourism flights with two balloons on Aybasti Persembe Plateau.
Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, who has been working hard to open Aybastı Persembe Plateau, famous for its meanders, to world tourism. Mehmet Hilmi Güler said that they want to bring the beauties of the plateau to tourism in summer and winter.

“One of the few beautiful regions in the world, Aybastı Persembe Plateau is a natural wonder. It is very famous for its meanders, freshwater mussels and otters. We want to make this region a center of attraction. We are working hard on this as well. We have achieved very good results in our work with Civil Aviation. We have been working on it very seriously for 2 years. The work of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation yielded positive results. As a result, we will focus on tourism activities with two balloons and we will have the opportunity to watch this beautiful, natural wonder place from the sky. With this new breakthrough, we will have the opportunity to show all the beauties of our Aybastı Plateau, both in summer and winter, to our local and foreign tourists. We are extremely happy in this regard.”
TEST FLIGHTS IN NOVEMBER WERE POSITIVE RESULTS
In order to bring hot air balloon tourism to the city, with the initiatives of the Metropolitan Municipality, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation carried out investigations in all four corners of Ordu. Permission was granted for the test flight on the Thursday Plateau, which was decided to be suitable for hot air ballooning, and when the test flight in November 2020 yielded a successful result, the Thursday plateau was opened to sportive hot air balloon flights.
FLIGHTS FOR TOURISM PURPOSE STARTS
The Metropolitan Municipality, which applied to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation again for tourism flights, carried out test flights with a hot air balloon with a capacity of ten people in August 2022. The teams, which are preparing to start tourism flights on the plateau in order to introduce the beauties of Aybastı Persembe Plateau to the whole world, are preparing to start activities on the plateau with two balloons after the positive report from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
