9 Tons of Humanitarian Aid Sent to Pakistan on 4 Trains

Under the coordination of the Presidency of Internal Affairs, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), 9 tons of humanitarian aid was sent to Pakistan on 4 trains.

In a statement from the Ministry of Interior, it was noted:

“Aid consisting of 50 thousand tents, 500 thousand food and cleaning materials will be sent to the region under the coordination of our AFAD Presidency. In order to send aid to the region, Goodness Train Expeditions were created in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, and an Air Bridge was created in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense.

500 thousand of 250 thousand parcels consisting of food and cleaning materials will be prepared by 81 Provincial Governorships and Municipalities and the remaining part will be prepared with the contributions of Non-Governmental Organizations.

In order to deliver humanitarian aid materials to the region with Goodness Trains, aid parcels have started to be sent to 4 regions (Ankara, Kocaeli, Mersin, Van) determined under the coordination of the AFAD Presidency by our Governorships, Municipality and NGOs.

As of 22.09.2022, a total of 13 planes carrying aid, 9 Goodness Train Expeditions and from the Local;

25.812 family tents, 299.179 food parcels (646,8 tons of flour) and cleaning materials, 48.575 hot meals, 38.796 blankets, beds, pillows, etc., 6.058 units of kitchen sets, 13.942 units of clothing and carpets, 586.572 units of medical supplies, 2 mobile health units and camps, 50 motorboats were sent.

Tents and humanitarian aid materials together with our 22 NGOs under the coordination of our AFAD Presidency;

On 30.08.2022 with the 1st Goodness Train (29 wagons, approximately 500 tons),

On 01.09.2022 with the 2st Goodness Train (28 wagons, approximately 453 tons),

On 06.09.2022 with the 3st Goodness Train (25 wagons, approximately 421 tons),

On 09.09.2022 with the 4st Goodness Train (22 wagons, approximately 486 tons),

On 13.09.2022 with the 5th Goodness Train (28 wagons from Mersin, approximately 633,7 tons),

On 15.09.2022 with the 6th Goodness Train (17 wagons from Kocaeli, approximately 445,7 tons),

On 20.09.2022 with the 7th Goodness Train (39 wagons from Van, approximately 811,33 tons),

On 22.09.2022, it was shipped to the region with the 8th and 9th Goodness Train (49 wagons from Ankara, approximately 1.040 tons).

At the same time, the supply of tents and humanitarian aid materials from the local will continue. A total of 12 people, including 3 AFAD personnel, a 8-person health team and 23 NGO officials, are working in Pakistan to coordinate the distribution of aid materials sent by our AFAD Presidency to the region, and to assist in the establishment of tent cities.”

Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced on his social media account that 6 more trains are being prepared for Pakistan.

“To Sister Country Pakistan, with the support of NGOs under the coordination of AFAD Presidency; A humanitarian aid bridge was established with 13 planes, 9 Goodness Trains and local aid, 9 tons of humanitarian aid was sent with 4.790 trains, 6 more trains are being prepared.”
