The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan announced that the Termez-Mazar-e-Sharif and Peshawar railway lines will start soon.

In his speech with Turkish and Azeri officials on Tuesday, Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Nurov emphasized that this railway line should be built as soon as possible, according to the Uzbek media.

Recently, Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki talked about the start of the railway line extension project after returning from Tashkent, and said that they discussed with the Uzbek authorities the start of the construction work of the railway line.

Pakistani envoy Mohammad Sadiq Khan in Afghanistan announced that Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan have started practical steps to launch the Trans-Afghan railway line to establish rail links between Kabul and Peshawar.

It is said that the construction of this railway line is an infrastructure project not only for Afghanistan but also for the region.

The railway line project connects Central Asia to South Asia via Afghanistan, and the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan to the water ports of Pakistan and other countries by rail.

Afghanistan is the only country with the fewest railway lines apart from the construction of the Afghan-Trans project, which will play a much more important role in connecting the countries of the region.

The estimated value of the “Tramez-Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar” railway project is equivalent to 720 billion dollars with a length of 5 kilometers.

The Afghan rail network from Mazar-e Sharif to Kabul and then to Jalalabad province is where the rail will cross the Torkham border and flow into Pakistan via Peshawar.

Once in Pakistan, the goods will be unloaded to connect to the Pakistani railway system and from there it will eventually land in Pakistan's ports of Karachi, Gwadar and Qasim.
