China Launches a Carbon Monitoring Satellite

China today successfully launched a terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring satellite and two other satellites.

The satellites were launched with a Long March-11.08B carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province in the north of the country today at 4 local time and successfully entered the projected orbit.

Carbon monitoring satellite is mainly used for terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring, terrestrial ecology and resources research and monitoring, monitoring and evaluation of major national ecological projects.

The satellite is expected to provide operational support and research services in areas such as environmental protection, surveying and mapping, meteorology, agriculture and disaster mitigation.

This launch was the 430th mission of the Long March series carrier rockets.
