SunExpress General Manager Max Kownatzki, Deputy General Manager Ahmet Çalışkan and the Working Team met with representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations in our city hosted by DTSO.

Speaking at the meeting held about SunExpress's Diyarbakir-based flights, DTSO Chairman Mehmet Kaya said that Diyarbakir is the most important trade, tourism and cultural center, and therefore it is of great importance to increase the transportation network both domestically and abroad in Diyarbakir. Kaya said, “Initiating domestic flights such as Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Bodrum as well as international flights such as Berlin, Paris and Erbil will be an important commercial gain for SunExpress as well as the economic development of our big city. Diyarbakir is in a position where it can easily receive passengers from the cities around it. A passenger who will land in Diyarbakır can visit many touristic places in the region within a maximum of 2 hours and visit the cultural, religious and archaeological excavation sites in the region in a short time. Both domestic and international commercial business trips can be made in Diyarbakır. In this sense, Diyarbakir Airport has a much more modern infrastructure than many domestic and international airports. As Non-Governmental Organizations, we will do our best to meet the support needed for domestic and international flights by Sunexpres based in Diyarbakır.

Speaking later, SunExpress General Manager Max Kownatzki said, “We take great pleasure in being in an important city like Diyarbakir. This is a central point in many ways. As Sunexpres airline, we are a fast growing company. We organize 31 flights per week from Diyarbakır to cities such as Antalya, İzmir Düsseldorf Hannover, Frankfurt, Stuttgart. Diyarbakır is an important city for us. The region has a rich cultural heritage and tourism potential. We intend to make better use of the potential in this region. If Diyarbakir is promoted better, there may be more touristic trips to this region. In the short term, we are targeting Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Brussels, Stockholm, Vienna and Dubai as new destinations.
