Construction site tours in Roman theatre, Archeopark and Ankara Castle

Within the scope of the application to be implemented by the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, expert guides will accompany the residents of the Capital who want to see, examine and get information about the ongoing works at the Roman Theatre, Ankara Castle Street Rehabilitation and Archeopark construction site.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which hosts many events to strengthen cultural heritage awareness, aims to revive urban tourism with the free 'Ankara Heritage Site Trips' application.

Respect for historical heritage

Stating that they respect the archaeological heritage and that they want to show the restoration and conservation works initiated in these areas to the residents of the Capital city, Bekir Ödemiş, Head of the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage of ABB, gave the following information:

“Our projects to protect the historical and cultural archaeological heritage of Ankara are continuing rapidly. Some of them are in the project phase and some are in the implementation phase. Ankara public is following them closely, but we thought that this would not be enough. As the municipality administration, we wished that these works we do would be known, seen and noticed by all Ankara residents. Because if you don't know, you can't protect it, if you don't know, you can't protect it. In this context, we have started the Ankara Heritage Construction Site Visits program as the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural and Natural Assets in order to show the application works we have done especially for the historical cultural and archaeological heritage.”

Stating that the construction site tour program, which will be held in July and August at the first stage, will continue if there is demand, Ödemiş said, “There is a 2-year-old Roman Theater among these construction sites. Right next to it, there is the Archeopark, which covers an area of 17 thousand square meters, which will perhaps be the only real Archeopark in Turkey. There are also registered structures belonging to the Ottoman Period in Ankara Castle. Here, we will show our guests around the construction sites where restorations are made. Thus, we will ensure that all existing historical and cultural archaeological assets of Ankara are known, especially by our citizens from Ankara, and we will protect them together from now on.”

Online application

Cultural heritage, where historical layers are brought to light, will be closely introduced to the people of the Capital with a trip organized by the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Citizens who want to participate in the cultural event to be organized; In the form created at the address “forms.ankara.bel.tr/ankaramiras”, they will be able to make an online application by marking the construction sites they want to visit and the visit dates with their personal information. Pointing out that the ideas and opinions of the citizens who will be included in the trip program are important and that they will shed light on future projects, Ödemiş said, “We also ask the reasons why our citizens participate in these trips in the application form. Why are they interested? These will be important data for us. In our future works, we will use it in all projects and applications that we will do especially for the preservation of the historical texture in Ankara and its districts. We attach great importance to this as an understanding of participation," he said.

The Roman Theater and Archeopark construction site, which will be held on 23-30 July 2022 and 13-20 August, will be held between 11.00:12.00 and 13.00:14.00, and the Ankara Castle construction site will be held between XNUMX:XNUMX and XNUMX:XNUMX.
