Turkey hosted a total of 2022 million 6 thousand 19 visitors in the first 530 months of 618. According to the data of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 16 million 365 thousand 80 of the visitors to Turkey were foreigners and 3 million 165 thousand 538 were citizens residing abroad.
In the first 6 months of the year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 185,72 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the ranking of the countries sending the most visitors to Turkey in the January-June 2022 period, Germany is the first with 293,21 percent increase and 2 million 30 thousand 548 visitors compared to the same period of the previous year, Russia with an increase of 94,97 percent and 1 million 455 thousand 912 visitors. Federation took the second place, and England (U.K.) took the third place with an increase of 2464,50 percent and 1 million 264 thousand 275 visitors. Britain was followed by Bulgaria and Iran.
Germany ranks first again
The number of foreign visitors to Turkey in June of this year increased by 144,91% compared to the same month of the previous year. In June, Turkey hosted 5 million 14 thousand 821 visitors.
The ranking of the countries sending the most visitors to Turkey in June did not change either. In June, Germany ranked first with an increase of 204,20 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, Russian Federation took the second place with an increase of 243,30 percent, and England (B.Kingdom) ranked third with an increase of 4202,32 percent. Britain was followed by Bulgaria and Iran.
