The 9-kilometer land band of the road works carried out on Atatürk Boulevard by the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Road Construction Maintenance and Repair Department was completed in 8 days. The horizontal marking and hand application works, which are covered with new asphalt, have been completed and the entire road will be opened to traffic this evening. The work on the 9-kilometer sea band will also begin tonight. Dolmus Driver Yüksel Açıcı stated that he always uses Atatürk Boulevard for his job and said, “We couldn't use the rightmost lane of the road in particular. It was broken, now asphalt is number 10,” he said.

The works on Atatürk Boulevard carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Department are continuing rapidly. The works on the land band of the 18-kilometer road between the Highways Junction and Belediye Evleri Junction were completed in 8 days. A total of 9 tons of asphalt was poured during the works on the 16-kilometer land band of the boulevard. Horizontal marking and hand application works have also been completed on the road covered with asphalt in European standards. Work on the sea band will also begin tonight. Approximately 500 thousand tons of asphalt will be poured on the entire 18-kilometer road round-trip.

INCREASED COMFORT AND SAFETY

In order to increase the comfort and safety of the road surface, a paver machine with state-of-the-art multiplex electronic sensors that can lay asphalt in one piece up to 12 meters, two trimer asphalt scrapers, 2 sweepers, 42 trucks, 4 double bandage asphalt rollers, one minicase. 100 personnel are employed with the machine.

WORK IS PROGRESSING FASTER THAN THE PLANNED CALENDAR

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Head of Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Department Ahmet Bayır gave information about the works carried out on Atatürk Boulevard and said, “Our programs for 2022 continue at full speed under the leadership of our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mustafa Demir, together with our general secretary, assistant secretary generals and all heads of departments. In this context, our work on Atatürk Boulevard continues rapidly. Regarding Atatürk Boulevard, we have a total of 9 kilometers of production, 9 kilometers on the land band and 18 kilometers on the sea line, in order to correct the deteriorated wear layers on the surface. We are currently ahead of the schedule we have programmed. We aim to complete the work, which is supposed to take about 25 days under normal conditions, in 17-18 days. We carry out our work in consultation with the 7th Regional Directorate of Highways.”

WORKS ON THE BLACK BAND COMPLETED IN 8 DAYS

Stating that the works on the 9-kilometer part of the land belt were completed on the 8th day, Bayır said, “Here, we use the latest technological pavers with a very special system. We realize a flawless production that is much more comfortable for our people, especially by using special pavers to lay one piece so that no joints are formed on the asphalt. Our citizens are having some difficulties during this process, but I believe that our citizens who use the road will be very satisfied afterwards. A total of 12 construction machines, 42 trucks, and nearly 100 personnel work here. We also thank our citizens for their patience. We will begin our work on the marine band right away tonight. We will continue our efforts to complete the sea band in a short time and provide a comfortable transportation to our citizens.”

IT WAS VERY BEAUTIFUL, SUITABLE FOR SAMSUN

Ali Kenan Ak, one of the drivers using the newly paved road, said, “The works have been very good. God bless our municipality. We used the road, the asphalt is very high quality. Samsun's roads are perfect. We would like to thank our Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir.”

Adnan İnce, on the other hand, stated that he liked the asphalted road very much and said, “We used to have a lot of trouble especially in the right lane. Now the road has just been built, it is very beautiful," he said.
