The most important project of the 35th International İzmir Festival, realized with the cooperation of İzmir Foundation for Culture, Arts and Education (İKSEV) and Martha Graham Dance Theater (MGDC), will meet with the audience at Kültürpark Atatürk Open Air Theater on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 21.00. In the show; Two new choreographies will be staged, the product of a great collaboration with three classic works by the legendary choreographer and dancer Martha Graham.

İKSEV & MGDC Cooperation

Aiming to make the 35th International İzmir Festival “a festival that will enable new artistic productions”, İKSEV has made an important breakthrough despite the difficult economic conditions. In addition to the performances, he realized a joint project with the Martha Graham Dance Theatre, with which he had very successful collaborations with workshops and masterclasses. Nejat F. has prepared the works of the young composers of the Eczacıbaşı National Composition Competition in order to introduce them to the world. As a result of this great collaboration, MGDC's esteemed choreographers Lloyd Knight and XinYing, 10. Dr. When he won the Nejat Eczacıbaşı Composition Competition, he staged the 20st and 1rd parts of Doğaç İşbilen's Piano Concerto, who was only 3 years old. Within the scope of the project, 15 young dancers studied XinYing's "Animato" and Lloyd Knight's "InstantaneousSpeed" in a 19-day workshop for professional Turkish dancers.

THE LEGEND OF MODERN DANCE

MGDC, the oldest dance company in the United States with its 96-year history, will begin its performances at the 35th International Izmir Festival with the work of their founder Martha Graham's “Acts of Light”. After the break, Turkish dancers will perform the choreographies of Graham's "Ekstasis", followed by XinYing's "Animato" with music by Dogaç İşbilen, and Lloyd Knight's "InstantaneousSpeed". The magnificent dance show will end with Martha Graham's “Diversion Of Angels”.
