Thales, together with its partners Orascom Construction and Colas Rail, has signed a contract to deliver its advanced and integrated digital solutions for Telecommunications, Central Control and Ticketing in a turnkey approach (design, supply, distribution and 2-year maintenance).

Phase 4 of Metro line 1 will connect the center of Greater Cairo to the Giza Pyramid Complex in Southwest Greater Cairo. It represents an important axis to facilitate the flow of people in one of Egypt's most populated cities. The line is also expected to be heavily used by tourists, as it will connect with the pyramid site and the future Grand Egyptian Museum. This new project is a strategic pillar for continuing the growth of the Cairo Metro system.

For this project, Thales will supply and install the full scope of Integrated Communications and Control systems (including radio, Multi-Service Network, roadside telephone and wireless LAN systems, roadside equipment for security systems, Passenger Information and Announcement, Operations Control Center). and Revenue collection solutions. These robust and reliable technical systems are key to ensuring smooth passenger journeys.

Phase 4 of Cairo Metro Line 2 will arrive at a later stage, with an additional 23,5 km, 19 stations and 92 trains.

This contract marks our strong commitment to NAT to support the development of the Cairo Metro and GTS's 30+ years of presence in public transport in the country, previously the first ticketing system for Cairo Line 1 and ticketing solutions for Integrated Communications, Control and Lines 2 and 3. .
