A Sino-European freight train bound for Duisburg, Germany, is preparing to depart from Tuanjiecun Station in Chongqing, southwest China.

A cargo train loaded with electronics, mechanical parts and daily necessities left a train station in southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Thursday and headed for Duisburg, Germany.

This time was the 10.000th journey made by Sino-European freight trains operated by the China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing), the first of its kind in China.

Launched in March 2011, the China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing) transported more than 400 types of products with a total value of more than 60 billion yuan (about 1.000 billion USD), from smart terminals and vehicles to auto parts and pharmaceuticals.

The China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing) currently operates around 100 routes reaching around 40 cities in Asia and Europe.

According to China State Railways Group Limited, China-Europe freight train services saw rapid growth in their safe and smooth operations in 2021, with the number of trips reaching 15.000 last year.
