The world-famous Köyceğiz orange, which has a geographical indication, will be protected from the Mediterranean Fruit Fly pest thanks to the 2 Mediterranean Fruit Fly Traps donated by the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association to the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
A ceremony was held in Muğla's Köyceğiz District Hamitköy District for the distribution of traps that prevent the formation of Mediterranean fruit flies in citrus and peach products, which earn Turkey approximately 1 billion 100 million dollars in foreign currency.
Stating that Turkey's best quality oranges are produced in Antalya Finike and Muğla Köyceğiz, Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association President Hayrettin Uçar, Mugla Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Barış Saylak and his team are working very harmoniously with his team, to increase the quality of agricultural products produced in Muğla. stated that their cooperation will continue to increase.

There are similar increases in fertilizers, pesticides and other inputs. If our producers from Ula, Dalaman, Köyceğiz come together under the umbrella of the Sakaraltı Producer Association, they can make joint purchases and market their products together. Our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry provides all kinds of support. Input costs decrease, and being able to act jointly in biological and biotechnical control methods leads to successful results.”

Tangerine export leader
Turkey exported 2021 million dollars of citrus, 935 million dollars of peaches and nectarines in 170. While tangerine became the export leader among citrus products with 453 million dollars, lemon exports were recorded as 293 million dollars. While Turkey earned 106 million dollars foreign exchange income from orange exports, grapefruit brought Turkey 82 million dollars foreign currency.
