Women's Health Education Provided to Hearing Impaired Women

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerIn line with the vision of “Another Disabled Policy is Possible”, a first in İzmir was achieved. A 47-week Women's Health Education Program was organized for 13 hearing-impaired women.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality broke new ground in Turkey and Izmir Deaf Protection and Development Association Local and Karşıyaka A Women's Health Education Program (KSEP) was organized for 47 hearing-impaired women who are members of the Deaf Association. Turkish Sign Language translators Melek Uslular and Özlem Polat and women's health trainer Neşe Arslantaş took part in the 10-week training between March 17 and June 13. The program, which was organized with the aim of getting to know women's bodies, developing knowledge and skills on the basis of gender equality in hygiene and nutrition, and raising health awareness about pregnancy, birth and puerperium processes, ended with a certificate ceremony. Participants received their certificates from Anıl Kaçar, Head of Social Projects Department.
