Within the scope of the 'Smart City Traffic Safety Project', which is planned to be opened until TEKNOFEST, one of the award-winning projects of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, 22 of the 17 intersections on Atatürk Boulevard have been completed. Stating that they will put their signature under one of the best projects in Turkey, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We are working jointly with ASELSAN, the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Highways on this project that will ensure safe and fast flow of traffic in our city. It will be one of Turkey's best projects," he said.

Work continues at full speed on the 'Smart City Traffic Safety Project', one of the vision investments of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which was awarded the 'Smart City Traffic Safety Project' by the Intelligent Transportation Systems Association of Turkey (AUS Turkey). The project, which will increase the quality of life of people with physical, digital and human systems compatible with the environment, to be implemented together with ASELSAN, has come to an end.

Transportation problems will be solved with traffic applications and information technologies to be included in the project. Information such as speed and location collected from sensors placed at certain points of the city will offer an alternative solution in cases of traffic jams. In this direction, the signaling times can be changed according to the traffic situation. When obstacles that will affect the traffic flow such as accidents occur, quick and effective interventions will be made. It will be ensured that the units that need to intervene on the scene such as the fire brigade, police and ambulance will move quickly in the traffic.

Before the project, the teams of the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, who took x-rays of Samsun traffic, continue their arrangements at the intersections of Atatürk Boulevard, one of the regions with the highest traffic. Having completed the geometric arrangement of 22 of 17 intersections and the installation of smart intersection systems, the teams aim to finish their work by TEKNOFEST.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We are changing the intersection geometries with the traffic flow, depending on the vehicle counts we made on Atatürk Boulevard within the scope of the project. We make the signaling system dynamically adaptive. Our work continues rapidly on Atatürk Boulevard, which is one of the areas with the highest traffic, as in the rest of the city. In addition, landscaping works are carried out in our intersections and regions, which are also completed by the Department of Parks and Gardens. We are working jointly with ASELSAN, the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Highways on a project that will ensure safe and fast flow of traffic in Samsun. It will be one of Turkey's best projects," he said.
