IMM Goes to Tender Again for 2 Subway Lines whose Construction is Delayed

The tender will be renewed for the construction of 15 metro lines, whose physical progress cannot exceed 2 percent, which is behind the determined completion schedule. Kaynarca - Pendik - Tuzla and Kirazli -Halkalı The existing contractor companies that carry out the metro constructions will be replaced. Tender will be held again for 2 metro lines. Instead of the insufficient existing companies, contractor companies that will do the job faster will be determined and invited to the field.

IMM will do what is necessary

The companies that undertook the construction of both metro lines did not fulfill their responsibilities on time. IMM will do its part to ensure that the work is not left unfinished, public damage does not occur, and most importantly, the rights of 16 million Istanbulites are not usurped. Bids will be renewed as soon as possible.

WASTE OF TIME MUST BE AVOIDED

In order to continue the two Metro Projects and not to waste time, the tender process will be started again. According to the result of the tender, necessary conditions will be provided for the construction to start quickly with the new contractor companies. Necessary conditions will definitely be created to accelerate new construction works in order to prevent time loss.

ABOUT KAYNARCA – PENDİK – TUZLA METRO LINE

In January 2018, physical field progress was just 0,2%. Due to the lack of funds and the inability to obtain credit, the construction works completely stopped. In February 2020, the construction works of the line resumed with a loan of € 86 million from the French Development Bank. With this budget, the construction of the 4,9st STAP "Pendik Center-Kaynarca Center-Fevzi Çakmak and Tavşantepe Station-Kaynarca Central Station Section", which is 2 km long and consists of 1 stations, continued rapidly. With the issuance of Eurobonds in December 2020, an additional € 34 million was provided for the project, and all the financial needs for the 1st STAGE were completed. The line construction, whose physical progress was increased to 30 percent, was planned to be completed by the end of 2023. The 2017st Stage of the metro construction work, which was delayed for about 3 years from the tender and site delivery process in 1, was completed without any interruptions or pauses, without any further delays, and in line with the 2023 opening target. The importance and priority of commissioning and the public benefit it will create were communicated in writing.

ABOUT KIRAZLI HALKALI METRO LINE

Although the site was delivered in 2017, the physical site progress was 2018% in January 2,5, in other words, the construction works were completely stopped due to the lack of funds and the inability to obtain credit. In December 2020, the construction works of the line were restarted with the issuance of 170 million Euros of bonds. With this budget, the construction works of the 4,2st Stage “Kirazlı, Barbaros, Malazgirt, Mimar Sinan and Fatih Station Section”, 4 km long and consisting of 1 stations, were resumed in February 2021. The physical field progress of the 9 km long line consisting of 10 stations was increased to approximately 8%. However, the contractor firm has slowed down the works in the field recently.
