CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu's political party membership was dropped by the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The decision was conveyed to the CHP Headquarters.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu, who was tried at the Istanbul 37th High Criminal Court, was sentenced to four years, 11 months and 20 days in prison for "insulting a public official because of her duty", "publicly insulting the State of the Republic of Turkey" and "insulting the President". was upheld by the Supreme Court.

Kaftancıoğlu, who was sent to Silivri Prison, was released under probation. Kaftancıoğlu's political party membership was dismissed by the Court of Cassation Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, as the Supreme Court of Appeals also upheld the penalty for restricting the local court to be a party leader in accordance with Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code.

In the Supreme Court decision sent to the CHP Headquarters, "As it was understood that the crime of insulting the President and the crime of insulting the state of the Republic of Turkey, the state's institutions and organs was found to constitute an obstacle to political party membership within the scope of Article 2820 of the Political Parties Law No. 11, and your party's duties in the party organs were terminated and your party was registered in the registry.
