With the contributions of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, a fishing competition was held at the Kesikköprü Dam with the slogan "Random to the Future in Ankara". 86 anglers participated in the competition, which was held in Başkent with the participation of the Amateur and Sportive Angling Federation (ASOF) and its member associations, with the aim of improving fisheries.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to support the activities organized in order to develop and encourage different sports branches in the city.

Fishing at Kesikköprü Dam as part of the “Sustainable Amateur and Sporty Angling Project for Eco-Tourism and Recreational Purposes in Ankara's Important Wetlands” by the Amateur and Sportive Angling Federation (ASOF) with the support of the United Nations Global Environment Facility (GEF/SGP). competition was held. 86 anglers competed in the competition, which was held with the contributions of the Metropolitan Municipality.

GOAL: TO INCREASE NATURE SPORTS IN THE CAPITAL

In addition to ABB Support Services Department Head Yalçın Demirkol, 15 people from different provinces with their families participated in the competition organized by the Nature and Environment Friendly Amateur Anglers' Association and OLTACILARDER, which carry out their activities with 500 Angling Associations within the scope of Turkey.

In the two-day competition, ABB met the needs of the participants, from the presentation tool (sound system tool) to drinking water, from cardboard cups to garbage bags, from generators to mobile WCs, while Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Bala Municipality, General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture carried out its activities in Ankara. Many Non-Governmental Organizations related to nature sports also provided support to the event.

COMPETITION TO CATCH THE BIGGEST PICKLE

While Kesikköprü Dam in Bala district and Asartepe (Çanıllı) Dam in Ayaş district were determined as pilot areas, 5 anglers from Ankara as well as Kırşehir, Eskişehir, Sakarya and Balıkesir provinces participated in the sportive angling competition held on Sunday, 05.00 June between 11.30-86 am within the scope of the project. joined.

ASOF President M. Serkan İnanç stated that they are happy to host various activities at the Kesikköprü Dam, where a photography contest on "Fish, Amateur Fishing and Nature" is held by the Ankara Photography Group, and gave the following information:

“As a federation in Ankara, in order to make more efficient use of these areas, which appeal not only to angling, but also to nature sports such as bird watching, cycling, trekking and photography, cross country/running, camping, climbing, and recreation, and to contribute to the local people. Within the scope of the project, which we started with the slogan of 'Random to the Future', two camp competitions are organized together with women, children and the disabled.”

OLTACILARDER President İbrahim Yıldız also stated that families have a great interest in the competition and said, “In order for those living in Ankara to integrate with nature, improve their health, be healthier in spirit and body, and grow up with environmental and nature awareness, natural areas and recreational activities in the city or around the city are very important. I think it is of great importance,” he said.

THE SECOND OF THE COMPETITION IS IN JULY

The second of the competition will be held on 2-3 July 2022 at the Asartepe (Çanıllı) Dam in Ayaş district.

After a total of eight competitions to be held throughout Turkey, the winners will participate in the final competition in Ankara. Metin Özcan, who caught the biggest pike of the competition with 12 pike and 64,8 cm in Kesikköprü Dam and became the winner of the competition, said, “We participated as the Anglers' Association. I am very happy to be the first. We couldn't do it for two years due to the pandemic, it felt very good. The contribution of the Metropolitan Municipality never ended. They are with us at all our events. Thank you very much,” he said.

Tamer Takin, one of the fishermen competing in a fiercely competitive environment, expressed his thoughts by saying, "We couldn't catch fish, but it was a very successful organization and a very good competition."
