Turkey Paragliding Target Championship Started on the Beaches of Lake Van

Organized with the support of Van Metropolitan Municipality, Turkey Paragliding Target Championship 3rd Stage, 1st day races started on the beach of Ayanis.

The 3st day flights of the 1rd Stage of the Turkey Paragliding Target Championship, organized by the Metropolitan Municipality in order to promote the historical, cultural and natural richness of Van, to popularize the sport of paragliding in our city and to introduce the flight destinations in our city, started in Ayanis District of Tusba district.

Parachutists from different provinces of Turkey struggled to make the best landing by flying in the Ayanis Take-off area, accompanied by the unique view of Mount Süphan and Lake Van.

On the first day of the championship, the athletes make six sorties and try to get the highest score. Rankings are formed as a result of the points received.

Championship athlete Soner Yılmaz said that Van has very suitable areas for paragliding and said, “Being here today, flying against Lake Van and Mount Süphan makes me incredibly happy. The nature of Van and the activity are very beautiful. I hope there will always be good events like this here. I would like to thank Van Metropolitan Municipality and all our institutions that contributed to the event.”

Stating that he is very happy to be in Van, Cevdet Sarı said, “A paragliding target competition is held in Van for the first time. However, Van is an ideal city for paragliding. I hope these competitions will always continue and athletes from all over the world will come to our city and fly on these slopes. I am assertive in the championship, I hope I get good points today and I want to be the first in the championship."
