In the opening speech of the History, Culture and Civilization Awareness Seminar he attended in Istanbul, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer evaluated the process regarding the publication of the Regulation on Candidate Teaching and Teaching Career Steps in the Official Gazette. 12
Stating that a society is as strong as its teachers, Minister Özer said that for this reason, they constantly support teachers. Özer said: “You are our esteemed teachers, whom we will give the most support during this period. For this, we first started with the Teaching Profession Law. For 60 years, the longing for a law specific to teachers has always been expressed by education stakeholders in all National Education Councils in this country. Thank God, we have completed this longing as of February 14, 2022. With the Teaching Profession Law No. 7354, a law specific to teachers was realized for the first time in our education history. With this law, for the first time, the most serious step has been taken in constructing an education ecosystem where there is continuous improvement in teaching, there is no stagnation, and the teacher constantly learns. This is a very important step towards the future of our education history.”
Stating that there is another good news today, Özer said, “We have opened our regulation work on the candidacy and career system regarding the implementation of the Teaching Profession Law to the views of all our stakeholders, and we sent it to be published by giving its final form according to the opinions received. As of today, this regulation has also been published. We no longer have any shortcomings in terms of legislation regarding the implementation of the Teaching Profession Law.”
Wishing the Law of the Teaching Profession and the regulation to be beneficial for teachers, Özer said: “Tomorrow, we will share the training program and exam schedule for the specialist and head teacher mentioned in the regulation with the whole public. We will finalize the process before the end of 2022, and hopefully a very important process will have started in our education system regarding the creation of an education ecosystem in which we have a huge number of experts and head teachers, where continuous personal development and professional development are discussed, and good practices are discussed.”
