Rolls-Royce Phantom Arrives in a New Expression

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced a new skin for the Phantom Series II. The eighth-generation Phantom has been updated this year with design changes and a potentially significant infotainment system upgrade. The flagship is commemorated with a new bespoke masterpiece, the Phantom Platino. The new Rolls-Royce Connected feature seamlessly connects the Phantom to Whispers, the brand's exclusive members' app.

Rolls-Royce products have a long lifespan and ultimately become timeless expressions of fine taste, beauty and luxury perfection. “All of the subtle changes we've made for the new Phantom Series II have been thought through and meticulously implemented. As Sir Henry Royce himself said: 'Little things create perfection, but perfection is no small thing.'”

A NEW EXPRESSION

The luxury automaker states that the most distinctive and important feature to protect is the Phantom's commanding presence. This is further enhanced by the new polished horizontal line between the daytime running lights above the Pantheon Grille.

This gives the Phantom a new and assertive modernity that reflects its driver-oriented character.

A subtle geometric change to the Pantheon Grille makes the “RR” Badge of Honor and Spirit of Ecstasy mascot more prominent when viewed from the front.

The grill itself is now illuminated.

The headlights are embellished with intricate laser-cut bezel starlights, creating a visual connection with the Starlight Headliner inside. It adds more surprise and delight to the Phantom's nighttime presence.

In the side profile, the Phantom retains Rolls-Royce's signature short front wheel overhang, long wheelbase and wide c-pillar. The latter provides more privacy for passengers.

The silhouette retains graceful outlines from the Spirit of Ecstasy to the tapering tail. The “split arch” line starts from the front fender and curves slightly towards the rear door, emphasizing the car's long line-to-axle proportions before falling gently towards the lantern-like taillights. The heavily undercut 'waft line' casts a strong shadow, visually signaling the brand's unique 'magic carpet ride'.

The side profile has been further enhanced with a set of new wheels.

The 3D milled stainless steel rim with triangular surfaces can be commissioned fully or partially polished. Alternatively, the Phantom can be adorned with a truly elegant disc wheel reminiscent of the romance of the 1920s Rolls-Royce motor cars. This disc wheel is made of both polished stainless steel and black lacquer and perfectly encapsulates the feeling of flying on land.

As requested by some Phantom customers, the blacked-out chrome grille frame, black hood reins, windshield frame and side frame trims can now be deployed.

This aesthetic now enables Rolls-Royce to transform the Phantom into the lightest of light or the darkest of dark images.

The Phantom's sumptuous interior has remained virtually unchanged: the steering wheel has been made slightly thicker, providing a more connected and quicker contact point for owner-driver.

PHANTOM PLATINO: THE RETURN OF FINE TEXTILES

Rolls Royce Phantom Comes with a New Expression

To celebrate the launch of the Phantom Series II and demonstrate Rolls-Royce's Bespoke capability, the brand has created a new Bespoke masterpiece, the Phantom Platino, named after the coveted and silver-white plating of the precious metal platinum.

The Phantom Platino continues Rolls-Royce's exploration of fabric interiors, a story that began in 2015 with the launch of the Serenity, a true Bespoke Phantom with a hand-painted, hand-embroidered silk interior.

The Phantom Platino's front seats are covered in premium Rolls-Royce leather, while the rear seats are covered in fabric. The beautiful shades of Platino's interior are achieved by combining two different fabrics; one was created in an Italian mill for its durable yet luxurious look, and the other is made from bamboo fibers selected for its glossy finish.

Both materials share an original repetition pattern based on an abstract interpretation of the Spirit of Ecstasy. In silky textile, the design is smaller and woven into the fabric to create a more visually stimulating finish. It also appears in the Phantom's Gallery and on key touchpoints such as the armrest and center console. Bamboo fabric is embroidered with larger icons that offer a tufted look commonly found in interior design. This more resilient material is inserted into the inner lower elements, which must withstand most contact.

The same design is seen in the Phantom's instrument cluster clock. The surround is made of 3D printed ceramic, a truly contemporary implementation of a traditional material. Set in a frosted wood set, the interior's tonal features take the Phantom to a level of beautiful and unmatched opulence.

The largest canvas on Phantom is the Starlight Headliner. In a unique design created specifically for the Rolls-Royce Platino, "stars" are placed to draw the eye back, with whimsical shooting stars following the pattern's wide arc.
