Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that an agreement was reached with Kazakhstan to increase the quota of transit pass documents from 2 thousand to 7.5 thousand by increasing 15 times. Karaismailoğlu stated that the number of third country pass documents has been increased to 3 for Turkish carriers, and underlined that there has been an increase in quota with Kazakhstan after years.

In his written statement, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu reminded that transports to Central Asian countries were generally carried out over the Iran-Turkmenistan route, but Turkmenistan closed its border gates to complete vehicle traffic due to the epidemic. Pointing out that the only alternative is the Kazakhstan route after this development, Karaismailoğlu noted that the current transit pass document quota with Kazakhstan is 2 thousand, and the documents given under the Ro-Ro condition cause additional costs. Karaismailoğlu said, “This has adversely affected our transportation to Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan,” and stated that the Turkey-Kazakhstan Joint Land Transportation Commission (KUKK) meeting was held in Ankara on May 9 to improve land transportation between the two countries.

Pointing out that the meeting took place in a constructive environment befitting the friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Kazakhstan, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu emphasized that important decisions were taken during the meetings. Underlining that there has been an increase in quota with Kazakhstan years later, Karaismailoğlu said, “In 2022, a total of 11 bilateral transit documents and 2 of which will be used in Ro-Ro lines, a total of 100 transit pass documents will be exchanged, with additional documents, without Ro-Ro conditions. agreement was reached. The number of third country pass documents has been increased from 15 to 3 thousand for Turkish transporters. Additional documents will be exchanged by the end of May,” he said.

2023 THOUSAND UNIFORM TRANSITION DOCUMENTS TO BE TRADED IN 10

Explaining the temporary quotas agreed for 2023, Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“For the Turkish side, 10 thousand uniform pass documents will be exchanged in two lots. All of these documents will be valid at the land border gates. A total of 2 thousand transit pass certificates, 15 of which are valid in the Caspian, will be issued, and 2 transit documents to a third country will be issued. In addition, if additional transit documents are needed, the request will be quickly considered at the request of the other party. It was also decided to cooperate in the fields of digitalization in transportation, electronic pass document, pass document distribution system. For this purpose, the Turkish Delegation invited the Kazakh delegation to a meeting at a border gate in Turkey to exchange information. With the KUKK Meeting, the cooperation between the two countries will become even stronger.”
