Lawyer, academic and author Prof. Dr. Rona Aybay passed away. Aybay will be sent off on his last journey after the funeral ceremony to be held at Iznik Green Mosque on Saturday, May 7th.

WHO IS RONA AYBAY?
After graduating from Istanbul University Faculty of Law and completing his doctorate, Aybay completed his master's degree in comparative law at Columbia University in 1964.
Rona Aybay, who received the title of associate professor and then professor in 1973, assumed the duties of Head of the Department of Public Administration at METU, dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at METU, and vice-dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University.
He was also a member of the Council of Europe Commission on Combating Racism and Intolerance and the OSCE commission responsible for examining human rights violations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and served as an international judge elected by the Council of Europe from 1996 when the Human Rights Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was established until 2003, when it was closed.
After the military coup on September 12, 1980, Aybay was suspended from the university and returned to his job seven years later with the decision of the Council of State. Rona Aybay, a lawyer, academician and writer, most recently served as a faculty member at Uludağ University Faculty of Law and TRNC Near East University Faculty of Law.
