İBB started the tunnel construction in Unkapanı as part of the work that will extend the tram line between Cibali and Alibeyköy to Eminönü. Due to the project, road narrowing will be applied in a part of Eminönü-Cibali direction. Eminönü Bus Platforms will also be moved to their new locations.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is completing the production for the second stage of its work to connect the tram line, the first stage of which was opened on January 1, 2021, between Cibali - Alibeyköy Pocket Bus Station, to Eminönü. A tram tunnel is being built in Unkapanı for the project that will extend the T5 Eminönü-Alibeyköy line to the Historical Peninsula along the Golden Horn coast. Within the scope of tram line productions, rail assemblies, pile and reinforced concrete productions and station constructions will be carried out. On the other hand, road narrowing will be applied for 1,5 years in the Eminönü-Cibali direction. Traffic flow will be provided from two lanes in both directions.
Eminönü Bus Platforms, through which the line will provide the opportunity to travel along the Golden Horn coast, will also be moved to their new locations. IETT bus stops will serve its passengers in the new residential area next to the Golden Horn Metro Crossing Bridge. ISPARK parking lot in the same area will also be removed. After the system tests are completed, the line is planned to be put into operation with passengers in 2023.
