Especially with the increase in the population and the number of vehicles in our big cities, the traffic problem is also increasing. In order to overcome this problem, the dissemination of rail systems is extremely important. When it comes to easy and fast transportation such as metro and tram, they are the first systems that come to mind. As the Ministry, we have implemented many important urban rail system projects so that our citizens living in big cities do not waste time in traffic.”

OUR MINISTRY WILL PROVIDE MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF THE RAIL SYSTEM NETWORK TO ISTANBUL

“When our metro projects, which are under construction in Istanbul, are completed, Istanbul's rail system network, which is 263 kilometers, will increase to 366,3 kilometers. Like this; More than 50 percent of the rail system network in Istanbul will be made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Our Bakırköy- Kirazlı Metro Line, which we are together with and whose tunnel excavation works have been completed, is 8,4 km long. Our line crosses 7 stations, namely Bakırköy Sahil (IDO) – Liberty Square, İncirli, Haznedar, Ilkyuva, Yıldıztepe and Molla Gürani, and ends at the existing Bağcılar Kirazlı Station. Başakşehir-Pine and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro line is an extension of this line, and when it is completed, we will have established an uninterrupted metro line from Bakırköy coast to Başakşehir Kayaşehir. Moreover, Halkalı- When we make the airport line, the airport connection will be provided. With the commissioning of our line, where 1 million Istanbul residents can travel a day, the travel time between Kayaşehir and Bakırköy Coastal IDO will be 39 minutes, the travel time between Çam and Sakura City Hospital - İncirli will be 31 minutes, and the travel time between Başakşehir (Metrokent)-Freedom Square will be reduced to 30 minutes. The total progress rate of our project has reached 70 percent as of today. We work in a part of the city where working and ground conditions are difficult. Despite these difficult conditions, we are in the rightful pride and joy of completing the tunnel excavations. Our 2 TBMs, that is, our tunnel boring machines, working like giant moles digging underground tunnels, reached Kirazlı station. We have completed a total of 13,5 kilometers of tunnel excavation, 3,5 kilometers of TBM and 17 kilometers of classical tunneling method. At the same time, we completed the assembly of segment concrete elements that make up the inner lining concrete of the tunnel. 17 kilometers of the 5 kilometers of railway track installation in the tunnels has been completed.”

Emphasizing speed and comfort in his speech, Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said that our Bakırköy-Kirazlı Metro Line will not only bring ease to the travel of Istanbul residents, but also will bring very important benefits in terms of economic benefits. The economic gain of Bakırköy-Kirazlı Metro Line in the 25-year projection; We will save a total of $2,4 billion, with $3,6 billion in highway maintenance and operating revenue and $6 billion in time savings. Even this economic gain is the best indicator of who is actually working for Istanbul. We will complete the 103 km metro construction ongoing in Istanbul and put it at the disposal of the people of Istanbul. In fact, until the end of this summer; We will put the Pendik Tavşantepe-Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro Line into service, the Başakşehir Metrokent – ​​Çam and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro line, which it took over as a ministry 2 years ago, and the Kağıthane Istanbul Airport Metro line.
