China's cargo spacecraft Tianzhou-4 has successfully docked with the core module of the country's space station under construction.

The cargo vehicle Tianzhou-4, sent into space from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan province in the south of China, reached Tianhe, the core module of the space station established by China in Earth orbit. Carrying the necessary equipment and materials for the 14-month mission of the 3 taikonauts to be sent to the station with Shenzhou-6 in June, Tianzhou-4 successfully docked in Tianhe. The docking process took about 6,5 hours as a result of using fast technology. The 10.6-metre-long cargo vehicle delivered equipment and supplies for the Shenzhou-14 mission to the now-empty Tianhe.

Five more space flights will take place this year to complete construction of China's space station.
