The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunication (MTT) proposes to develop an efficient public transport service by introducing a state-of-the-art Metro System with fully automatic, driverless and modern technology that follows international standards.
MTT plans to develop a 4 km long Metro System in 109 phases. Bahrain Metro Phase One Project consists of two lines with a total length of 29 kilometers and 20 stations. MTT is considering procuring the project as an integrated PPP to be procured through a two-stage process that includes the Pre-qualifications followed by the main tender.
In the first phase, MTT aims to prequalify qualified companies with appropriate experience and relevant expertise to design, build, finance, operate, maintain and transfer the project. The Applicant must submit a detailed Application by the PQA Deadline.

Based on MERs and other considerations, Pre-Qualified Applicants will be invited to participate in the next phase.
Bahrain Metro Phase One Project will include two lines and 29 stations with a total length of 20 kilometers connecting Muharraq, Manama, Diplomatic Area, Juffair, Seef District, Tubli, Adhari and Isa Town.
