Golden Rule After IVF Transfer
10 Golden Rules After IVF Transfer

Gynecology, Obstetrics and IVF Specialist Prof. Dr. Gökalp Öner gave information about what mother candidates who have undergone IVF treatment and transferred should pay attention to…

Take your medications on time and regularly

Careful and regular use of all medications given after the transfer is the most important part of the treatment process. Taking the drugs in the specified time frame and hours will ensure adherence. Not taking medications on time increases the risk of non-adhesion.

Drink plenty of fluids

It is very important that the uterus does not contract after the transfer. In this sense, the contraction of the uterus can be minimized with fluid intake. At the same time, the blood flow to the embryo to be attached will also increase.

Eat a Mediterranean diet

In the post-transfer period, we recommend eating mostly greens, consuming foods with olive oil, taking oil seeds, in short, a Mediterranean diet. Thus, the effectiveness of drugs used in IVF treatment will also increase. These nutrients will also increase embryo attachment.

Don't sleep all the time

“Many expectant mothers are turning to bed rest in this period, but we physicians do not definitely recommend this,” said Prof. Gynecology, Obstetrics and IVF Specialist. Dr. Gökalp Öner, “Bed rest does not provide sufficient blood flow to the embryo. This increases the chance of not holding on. In this sense, we strongly recommend doing daily routine works on the condition that they are not heavy.” He warned expectant mothers not to get into patient psychology.

Don't neglect your supplements

The immune system directly affects embryo attachment. For this reason, we do not want expectant mothers to experience any vitamin and mineral deficiency during this period. Especially vitamins C, E, folic acid and iron are very important vitamins and minerals in this sense. Definitely needs to be supplemented.

don't be constipated

In case of being constipated, not being able to go to the toilet and straining due to this, the uterus may contract accordingly, as the abdomen is forced. For this reason, it is useful to take medications to prevent constipation.

Avoid harmful habits such as smoking and alcohol

Due to the harmful substances in cigarettes and alcohol, it impairs the blood supply of the embryo and causes serious damage to the embryo. It also increases the risk of not clinging. Considering that it also increases the chance of early pregnancy loss, the use of these products is extremely inconvenient, especially in this period.

Do not travel longer than 24 hours in the first 2 hours after the transfer.

“The first 24 hours after embryo transfer is very important,” said Prof. Gynecology, Obstetrics and IVF Specialist. Dr. Gökalp Öner said, “The baby clings to the uterus. Concussion, fatigue and stress due to travel affect the baby's attachment by contracting the uterus. That's why we don't recommend field trips longer than 24 hours in the first 2 hours,” he says.

Do not consume unproven and unscientific herbal cures

During this period, we certainly do not want the uterus to contract. We strongly recommend that you stay away from such cures, as we have seen on our mothers that some herbal cures contract the uterus.

Stay away from stress

Stress causes involuntary muscle contraction. The uterus is one of the organs that have this muscle. With the stress factor that occurs in the human body, the uterus also contracts. The first thing we want after the transfer is; the uterus is loose. In this sense, we especially want all expectant mothers to be comfortable after the transfer, not to get stressed, to take walks full of oxygen and to pass this process by thinking positively.
