TÜBİTAK BİLGEM completed the DG (DeGauss) System integration of the TCG ISTANBUL (F-515), the first ship of the MİLGEM İ Class Frigate project, which was carried out under the main contractorship of STM A.Ş.
Factory acceptance tests of the system were successfully carried out at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Gebze Campus on 16-17 March 2022 with the participation of SSB, Istanbul Shipyard Command Design Project Office and STM authorities.
With the DG systems, which is one of the most effective ways to protect against sea mines and provides dynamic magnetic trace removal on the ship, which has come to the agenda again with the war in the Black Sea recently, the magnetic field of the ships is suppressed and it is ensured that the mines remain within the safety limit without causing magnetic triggering during the cruise. This prevents mines from exploding and damaging the ships.
