Speaking at the Provincial Coordination Board Meeting held last week, the representative of the 6th Regional Directorate of State Railways said that they allocated a budget of 7 million TL for the maintenance of the aging stops due to the prolongation of underground work in the GAZİRAY Project, which is expected to be operational for years.

The signaling system installation works in the GAZİRAY Project, which will play an important role in Gaziantep transportation and aim to transport 100 thousand passengers daily between Gaziantep OIZ and KÜSGET Region, have come to an end.

PROJECTS IN GAZIANTEP ARE ON THE AGENCY

At the 2022 Provincial Coordination Meeting, the Representative of the 6th Regional Directorate of State Railways (TCDD) made statements about the ongoing projects in the city. Noting that TCDD has 5 ongoing projects in the city, the representative said the total cost of these projects was 2 billion 871 TL. Noting that 2 billion 616 million TL was spent, the representative said that 600 million TL of appropriation is available this year.

METROPOLITAN WANTS TO TAKE MANAGEMENT

Gaziantep Deputy Governor Nihat Karabiber asked about the status of the Gaziray Project at the meeting. Speaking on this, TCDD 6th Region Representative said, “A protocol has not been made on the operation of Gaziray. We know that the Metropolitan Municipality wants to take over the management. Despite the completion of 11 stations, the existing stops became obsolete as the on-off stations were activated later. At the moment, we have allocated a budget of 7 million TL for their maintenance," he said.

The 7 million TL budget allocated by TCDD for the unused stops once again brought up the issue of when the passenger transportation operations in the GAZİRAY Project will begin.
