A residence was to be built in Rumeli Hisar, one of the symbolic historical places of Istanbul. It turned out that the project, which came to the agenda during the previous IMM administration, was blocked at the last moment. Mahir Polat, Deputy Secretary General of IMM, announced the details. Polat said, "After the restoration works that started with the suspension of the project, which filled the courtyard of Rumeli Hisarı with mansions, there will be museums and exhibition areas in the Hisar, and concerts will be held again."

New museum and exhibition areas will be created in Rumeli Hisar. After the restoration works are completed, Rumeli Hisar will regain its original identity. Mahir Polat, Deputy Secretary General of IMM, attended the press tour organized for the restoration project carried out by IMM Heritage and gave information about the works. Polat announced for the first time the project that came to the fore in the previous administration period and includes the construction of a residence in Rumeli Hisar. Stating that they blocked the project, Polat said, “We know from the historical documents that Rumeli Hisarı is 18-19. It turns into a neighborhood identity in the 21th century. There are houses and a life here. In fact, there was a project that rebuilt all these houses when we arrived, and we stopped it. About XNUMX mansions were to be built in the fortress, and the project had reached a certain stage. The mosque, whose existence is known, was rebuilt. “This reconstruction is a mosque, we are a mosque defined in the group of registered buildings, the group of buildings that need to be preserved.” Polat, who also gave information about Rumelihisarı Boğazkesen Fetih Masjid, said, “When this project was done, both a concert and a mosque could have been placed. Replaced the old amp. Its historical trace was also there. In the new restoration, all the bastions and historical areas of the Rumeli Fortress are owned by IMM, but no point in its courtyard is in IMM. It's not in our jurisdiction. To be able to make a savings here, the permission of the national estate that owns the property is required,” he said.

THERE WILL BE EXHIBITION AND CONCERT AREAS

After the restoration works are completed in Rumeli Fortress, there will be museum, exhibition and concert areas. Anadolu and Rumeli Fortresses can be visited in connection with the sea under the name of Istanbul Hisarlar Museum. For the first time, it will be possible to look at the Bosphorus from the bastions. Saying that they aim to bring Rumeli and Anadolu Hisars into the city as a new culture and art area under the name of 'Istanbul Hisarlar Museum', IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat said, "After the restoration works that started with the suspension of the project, which filled the Rumeli Fortress courtyard with mansions, there will be museums and exhibition areas in the Hisar, concerts will be held again. will be held,” he said.

ISTANBUL WILL VISIT THE zodiac signs for the first time

Stating that we are in a building that changes the history of Istanbul, Polat gave the following information about the planning after the restoration works in the statement he made at the Halil Pasha Tower;

“We are in a medieval structure. Rumeli Fortress was last rebuilt in 1953 by Cahide Tamer. After those years, you are the first people to experience this place. When the restoration is finished and the entire Rumeli Fortress is uncovered, people will perhaps have reached one of the most important traces in the city, together with the Land Walls. Unfortunately, it was closed to access in recent years because it was heavily damaged and involved some risks. When we took office, we saw these needs of the area and started the restoration quickly. One of the subjects we are most excited about; At the end of the whole process, to ensure that all citizens can climb on the bastions because we are talking about something amazing that Istanbulites have not experienced until today. For the first time, Istanbulites will be able to enter the bastions and travel the roads of Hisar.”

ALL 3 OF THE 3 TOWERS WILL BE ART AREAS

The towers, named after the 3 Pashas who took part in the construction of the Rumeli Fortress, will be a cultural and artistic area. Stating that the building, which changed the history of Istanbul, will also provide historical information to the visitors, Polat explained the planning for the new cultural acquisition of the city.

Polat said, “All 3 of the 3 towers in the fortress will be visited for the first time. We are planning the building we are in as a museum area containing information about the Conquest of Istanbul. Saruca Pasha Tower will also be strengthened and become an exhibition space for contemporary art. The Zağanos Pasha Tower is an open top tower with very strong acoustics, and acoustic concerts will be held there. Hisar roads, on which the fortresses stand, will also be a part of all excursion routes.”

TOURISM REVENUES WILL INCREASE 3X

Stating that while bringing Istanbul's iconic structures to tourism, it is necessary to plan very well, Polat said that they aim to increase touristic gains for the city as well as restoration works. “Istanbul can be visited in 2.5 days today, but it is a city that is much richer than that,” said Polat, adding that the contract price of Rumeli Fortress is 40 million, but it is a project that will bring 10 billion floors to the Turkish tourism economy. Polat continued with the following words;

“We are currently in a building that can be visited in one day alone. Tourists who come to Istanbul travel with a short destination. Such a valuable resource should be evaluated very well. When we add 1 more day to 2.5 days, tourism revenues will suddenly increase by 1%. Istanbul can be extended to 40-7 days with its wealth. Thus, Istanbul's economy and touristic income can triple. When Rumeli Hisarı attracts 8 million visitors annually on its own, this will be reflected in the revenue numbers.”

HİSARLAR WILL BE VISITED BY SEA TRANSPORTATION

Stating that it would not be right to give a clear timetable for the completion of the restoration works, Polat said that Anadolu Hisarı will be opened to visitors this summer, and that Rumeli Hisarı will be able to meet with Istanbulites with exhibitions and concerts in the summer months after the works are completed. After the Hisarlar is opened to visitors, it will be possible to reach by sea.
