Gendarmerie Doesn't Leave Wild Animals Starving in the Mountains with Hard Winters

In Elazig, the Gendarmerie Command teams reach high altitude regions where harsh winter conditions are experienced and leave food for wild animals.

Snowfall, blizzard and cold weather, especially in high areas and mountainous regions in Elazig, make the life of wild animals difficult.

Animal Situation Monitoring (HAYDİ) teams affiliated to the Provincial Gendarmerie Command carry out uninterrupted feeding activities throughout the winter in order to feed wild animals, especially wild goats, and rabbits, which have difficulty in finding food in the city where harsh climatic conditions are experienced.

The teams continue their wildlife support activities in coordination with the Nature Conservation and National Parks Elazig Branch Directorate for the protection of natural life.

Determining the route of the wild animals living in mountainous and forested areas, the teams go on a difficult journey that sometimes reaches the summit of snowy mountains in order to deliver the fodder consisting of dry grass, straw, barley, wheat and clover.

Working devotedly not to starve the wild animals, the teams left around 10 tons of feed to the high-altitude rural and mountainous regions during the winter months.
