BELPA Ice Skating Facility Tender Postponed

The comprehensive renovation tender of the BELPA Ice Skating Facility, which was transferred to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in an idle and unusable condition, was postponed to March due to the lack of participation due to increasing prices and economic conditions. At the request of athletes and citizens, BELPA made temporary maintenance and a new outdoor track at the facility. The outdoor rink of the BELPA Ice Skating Facility will open its doors to the citizens of the Capital by organizing a winter festival on 12 February and an Oleander concert on 13 February. Famous artist Burcu Güneş will take the stage at the closing concert of the winter festival on March 8, due to International Women's Day on March 27, at the facility.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is preparing to reopen the BELPA Ice Skating Facility, which was taken over in an unusable and idle state, by performing partial renovations.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which took back the ice skating hall and its premises, which were left to rot due to neglect, from the Provincial Directorate of Sports on 17 November 2020, determined that the facility was unusable as a result of the examinations it made. While it was understood that the electrical and water installation infrastructures were not maintained from the first day, molds that could be harmful to human health, and problems in the installation infrastructure, during the transfer of the plant, the water in the water installation was closed without draining and reactivated, resulting in the explosion of the installation, which was frost in places.

The Metropolitan Municipality went to a comprehensive renewal tender for the facility, but the tender held on December 22, 2021 was canceled due to the inability to receive bids after increasing prices and the fluctuation in the exchange rate.

BELPA MADE TEMPORARY MODIFICATION TO THE FACILITY

Due to the lack of participation in the tender, at the request of the athletes and citizens, BELPA made a temporary maintenance and a new open field track at the facility.

Having completed the maintenance and repair of the Chiller groups that cool the ice rink and the repair of the electrical panels, BELPA renovated 2 locker rooms and installed twelve lockers each. The Metropolitan Municipality, which also partially renewed the lighting, wall paints and WCs in the facility, installed a new water line from the main valve to the changing rooms, since the water installation of the facility completely exploded. The construction phase of the 2 square meter open-air ice rink continues in the facility, where only 450 locker rooms are supplied with water due to insufficient flow.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which will open the doors of the open-air ice rink on February 12, will bring together the citizens of the Capital with a 45-day winter festival consisting of DJ performances, karaoke and various workshops.

The facility will host the winter festival, which will start with the Oleander concert on Sunday, February 13 at 19.30, and the Ankara City Orchestra will give a concert on February 14, Valentine's Day, at 19.00. BELPA Ice Skating Facility will celebrate BELPA's foundation anniversary on Sunday, February 20, with the performance of the Janissary band and the concert of the city orchestra.
