The Graphene and Two-Dimensional Material Focus Technology Network (OTAG) Closing Meeting was held by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). Speaking at the program, SSB President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said, “One thing I would like to draw attention to here is that we have gone one step further than just meeting today's needs and started to focus on areas that we think will make a difference in the future.” said

Presidential Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) Graphene and Two-Dimensional Material Focus Technology Network (OTAG) Closing Meeting was held. President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. to the program held in the SSB. Dr. İsmail Demir, Rector of Erzurum Technical University Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, TÜBİTAK, Universities, TAFF companies and representatives of defense industry companies attended.

SSB President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, in his speech in the program; “Especially in the defense and space sectors, it is very critical to lighten the systems for the increase of payloads. However, invisibility, ballistic protection and efficiency of energy systems are other capabilities that excel on the battlefield. It is observed that foreign sources impose serious restrictions on the sale of materials required to provide these capabilities to the defense sector. Due to the need for advanced technology and the restrictions in question, it is essential for our country to consider these technologies as a roadmap. It is evaluated that graphene and two-dimensional materials will have an important place in the projects to be carried out by the Presidency of Defense Industries in the coming years. When the developing and promising material technologies in the world are examined, it is observed that R&D studies for the application of graphene and two-dimensional material technologies are increasing rapidly. Graphene and Two-Dimensional Materials OTAG study was completed with 54 academicians from 114 universities, 19 competent personnel from 91 companies, and a total of 248 participants from various research centers, in order for our country to follow this developing technology simultaneously with the world. Another point that I would like to draw attention to here is that we have gone one step further than just meeting today's needs and started to focus on areas that we think will make a difference in the future.” said

Focus Technology Network (OTAG) Studies

Investing in the technologies of the future with the aim of managing the transformation in defense industry technologies; Focus Technology Network (OTAG) mechanism, which consists of expert academicians, companies, research institutions, security and security forces and SSB representatives, is carried out under the leadership of the SSB, within the scope of the goal of eliminating foreign dependency on technology in existing platforms and systems.

Within the scope of OTAĞ studies, the outputs of the Technology Roadmaps, which include technology issues prioritized with common sense, are presented to the R&D Panel, which meets at various times every year in line with the needs, and are put into practice. In addition, the roadmaps that emerged as a result of the OTAG study are published on the SSB website and made into a booklet and shared with the relevant stakeholders, thus creating a reference source/guideline that all institutions/organizations can benefit from in their studies in the field of technology.

OTAĞ studies carried out by the Presidency of Defense Industries;

The closing meeting of Graphene and Two-Dimensional Materials OTAG, one of the OTAG activities, was held on January 24, 2022.

OTAG activities; “Electronics/Optoelectronics”, “Composites, Protective Coatings and Paints” and “Energy” were addressed through focus working groups. The technology topics that are currently being worked on and that are planned to be studied in the future were determined through the road map, and the OTAG study was completed, and the results were announced at the closing meeting.
