Ankara Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary BelPLAS A.Ş. produced beneficial microorganisms within the scope of combating pollution in lakes and ponds. It has started to be used in many areas such as the improvement of stagnant water in Ankara, cleaning of ornamental pools, deodorization of wastes and garbage, microbial fertilizers and probiotics. Thanks to the special mixture first applied in Göksu and Temelli Ponds, an improvement of approximately 95 percent was achieved in water quality.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has added a new one to its human and environment friendly practices.
BelPLAS A.Ş., a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Municipality. produced a special mixture culture, which is the "Microorganism Consortium", in order to prevent pollution, turbidity and odors in lakes and ponds.
THE PRODUCT IS USED SUCCESSFULLY IN MANY AREAS SUCH AS FERTILIZERS AND PROBIOTICS
The beneficial microorganism, produced from a mixture of lactic acid bacteria and yeast species, started to be applied in lakes and ponds in Başkent.

APPROXIMATELY 95 PERCENT IMPROVEMENT IN WATER QUALITY
With the first application in Göksu Susuz Pond in 2020 and in Göksu and Temelli Pond in 2021, approximately 95 percent improvement in water quality was achieved.
BelPLAS R&D Manager Özgün Kırdar pointed out that beneficial microorganisms do not cause any harm to the environment, nature and living things, on the contrary, they benefit living things with their probiotic effect, and shared the following information:
“Useful microorganisms are a mixture of microorganisms found in nature, consisting of a mixture of lactic acid, photosynthetic substances and yeast group. In 2020, we carried out a study on improving the quality parameters of the water in Göksu Pond and got very successful results. As a result of these studies, we conducted studies to improve the water quality parameters in Göksu and Temelli Ponds again in 2021. Its performance turned out to be very good. As a result of the application, we achieved 95 percent improvements in water quality parameters. We reduced the pollution parameters in the water and harmful bacteria and harmful microorganisms approached almost zero. We have achieved very successful results. While doing these studies, we apply our product as a liquid. In addition, we have an application in the form of mud balls, which we call regular swing balls, and we also affect the mud at the bottom of the lake. We carry out these studies to prevent pollution, turbidity and odors in our lakes and ponds. We are trying to bring 1st class water quality parameters by improving quality parameters and quality levels. Our product has no harm to the environment, humans and animals. It even improves the health of living things by showing a probiotic effect.”
