In the Indian state of Bihar, students alleging irregularities in the railway recruitment exam set fire to a passenger train and threw stones at police and wagons.

Students who took the exam for the job on the railway in Bihar stated that according to the announcement in 2019, the exam was one-stage, and it was announced that the second stage would be held in 2021, and that this was an injustice to those who passed the exam.

Students participating in the Railway Recruitment Board's Non-Technical Popular Categories exam 2021 staged a protest at Bihar Sharif railway station on Tuesday alleging inconsistency in results, news agency ANI reported. Students, who set fire to a passenger train, threw stones at police and wagons.

Meanwhile, railway officials suspended the Level 1 and Non-Technical General Categories exams after the protests.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw urged students not to break the law and assured them that their complaints would be taken seriously.

The government suspended the exam and set up a committee to address the grievances of the protesting students .
