Ankara-based Vako Vagon, which started its business with the production of horse-drawn carriages in the 1960s, has today exported more than a thousand container wagons to abroad, primarily to Europe. Container wagons produced by Vako Vagon, which has facilities in Ankara Beypazarı and Temelli, are used on the trade railways of countries such as Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain and the Netherlands.

The adventure, which started with the production of horse-drawn carriages in the 1960s, later turned into the production of truck beds and lorry trailers. The company, which started to produce container wagons in 2007, meets 2010 percent of the container wagon needs of private logistics companies between 2018-80.

Increased Employment

Serhat Kalaycıoğlu, the senior manager of the company, emphasized that they produce in 3 different factories in a total area of ​​65 thousand square meters. Serhat Kalaycıoğlu said, “Demand for trade railways has increased during the pandemic process. With the increase in demand, we also increased our production and employment in our factories. We increased the number of our personnel from 60 to 150, and the number of R&D engineers from 5 to 20”.

Export Target 30 Million Euros

Stating that they have delivered more than a thousand wagons over 12 million Euros this year, Kalaycıoğlu said that they have increased their targets for the next year. Kalaycıoğlu said, “We are planning to produce 2022 different new types of freight wagons in 4. We are in talks with countries that are preparing infrastructure in Africa. Together with the African market, our 2022 export target is 30 million Euros.
