2 Million Dollars Budget for the Purchase of Bayraktar TB100 SİHA from Iraq

According to Iraqi sources, Turkey will supply Bayraktar TB100 worth 2 million dollars to Iraq. According to the news published by Al-Araby and based on top Iraqi sources, the armament budget of the Iraqi Army was discussed at the Iraqi Council of Ministers held on December 2, 2021. It was stated that within the scope of the armament budget, Iraq wanted to procure 100 million dollars worth of Bayraktar TB2 SİHA.

In this context, it is stated that Bayraktar TB2 S/UAV systems will be used to ensure the security of desert and mountainous regions, especially the Iraq-Syria border. It is also stated that the Iraqi Council of Ministers has approved a number of changes in the armament plans of the air force, apart from the purchase of Turkish SİHAs.

It is reported that the Bayraktar TB2 request was discussed upon the recommendation of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and that the Iraqi military delegation is likely to go to Ankara in the coming days to discuss the issue with the Turkish authorities. An unnamed general stated that Turkey had previously expressed its desire to support and equip Iraq in the fight against terrorism. In this context, the general stated that if the agreement with Turkey for the purchase of SİHAs is successful, the Iraqi military personnel need training and this training may take several months.

Iraq wants to supply Atak Helicopter and Bayraktar TB2 SİHA

The delegation, headed by Iraqi Defense Minister Juma Inad, attended the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF'19) held in Istanbul on August 21th. In addition, the delegation visited Ankara and met with the Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar. Making statements after the meeting, Inad said that his country wants to buy Bayraktar TB2 SİHA, Atak helicopters and advanced weapons from Turkey.
