'Etimesgut YHT Main Maintenance Workshop', Turkey's first and only, Europe's number one high-speed train maintenance workshop, opened its doors to the TRT Haber team on 9 November 2021.

The giant facility, established on an area of ​​330 thousand square meters, where the maintenance of the train sets is carried out taking into account international standards, comes to the fore with the ability to perform maintenance on 42 YHT sets at the same time. In addition to the 31 YHT sets in the vehicle fleet of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, it maintains its future functionality as a visionary facility structure with the high capacity it provides.

Service maintenance at the Etimesgut YHT Main Maintenance Workshop takes an average of 8 hours. Heavy maintenance, which is among the most important tasks of the facility, is completed between 1 week and 2 months.

“We Are Maintaining 42 High-Speed ​​Train Sets at the Same Time, Safely and Quickly”

In the facility, where technology is used at the highest level, the maintenance of the latest technology YHT sets is carried out with a total of 51 employees, including 307 engineers, 132 technicians and 490 support personnel. The staff, working with a 24-hour shift system, completes the detailed maintenance, repair and disinfection processes of the high-speed trains that come to maintenance and prepares the trains for new passengers.

Hasan Pezük, General Manager of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, told TRT: “We do the pre-service and post-service maintenance and heavy maintenance of our vehicles meticulously in line with international standards. At the same time, we carry out the maintenance of 42 high-speed train sets safely and quickly.”

“Thanks to the experience of operating and maintaining the 'High Speed ​​​​Train' for more than 2009 years, which our organization started in 10, it has taken steps in the name of localization and nationalization by making nearly 50 modifications to the YHT sets. Stating that, Pezuk underlined that thanks to the studies, more than 55 equipment has been localized and nationalized, and this will provide significant benefits in the high-speed train works to be carried out in the future.
