The airline offers approximately 777% additional flight capacity to meet the rapidly increasing demand on daily flights to Sydney, which it currently operates with the Boeing 300-1ER and will operate with its iconic A380 aircraft from 50 December.
Emirates offers full-capacity flights to Sydney and Melbourne for its vaccinated and non-quarantine passengers. Emirates will also contribute to boosting Australia's travel industry with the reopening of borders
As Australia reopened its borders to international passengers in November, Emirates welcomed this development and increased its flights to the country to meet the rapidly increasing travel demands to and from Australia. With the target vaccination rate reached in New South Wales and the state of Victoria approaching the target, both states will allow their citizens to return to Australia without the need for quarantine.
With the relaxation of travel restrictions, Emirates has increased the frequency of EK414/415 flights between Dubai and Sydney and started daily flights with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Flight EK408/409 to Melbourne operates four times a week and the number of flights can be increased upon request.
Another positive development that shows that the Australian travel industry is on the road to recovery is that Sydney and Melbourne flights are operating at full capacity, with a total of 354 passengers from all ticket classes. For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family members, whether traveling to other countries in the world for vacation or to visit family or friends, have received an Australian Medical Products Administration (TGA) approved license. They now have the ability to re-travel to these two destinations without any restrictions, provided they have the COVID-19 vaccine.
From 1 December, Emirates' flagship A380 aircraft will also return to Australian skies for daily flights on the Dubai-Sydney route. This passenger-favorite aircraft will serve with a total of 76 seats, including 14 Business Class and 426 First Class seats in premium cabins, as well as 516 seats in Economy Class.
Commenting on the airline's expansion of its Australian operations, Barry Brown, Emirates Vice President Australia-Asia, said: “We are delighted to be able to resume serving Australians with the flight capacity and frequency they deserve. We think our passengers appreciate the normalization steps as well, as for vaccinated passengers who want to return to their home in Australia, this means they can now travel without capacity limitations and be able to reunite with their families sooner without having to go into quarantine after landing in New South Wales or Victoria.
In addition, Australians have started to make plans for their overseas vacation and travel as of November 1st. Of course, this development means good news for us as well. We are ready to serve our passengers who have access to our network covering 120 different destinations through our hub in Dubai, which will be very convenient for our passengers considering a stopover in Dubai to experience the beauties of Expo 2020 Dubai.”

Emirates and Quantas passengers have access to an extensive flight network thanks to the flight partnership between the two airlines. Emirates passengers have access to 120 destinations in Australia in addition to the 55 destinations to which Emirates flies, while Quantas passengers can reach Dubai and 50 cities in Europe, Central Asia and North Africa with Emirates.
Emirates' flights to Brisbane and Perth will continue with government-mandated capacity restrictions. All passengers traveling to these destinations will be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine until travel restrictions in Queensland and Western Australia are relaxed.
