Red Bridge and Akçalar Bridge on Kağızman Road Opened to Service with a Ceremony

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that they have invested 19 billion liras in the transportation and communication infrastructure of Kars in the last 7 years, and said that the Red Bridge and Akçalar Bridge are also very important road projects that have been implemented. Noting that with these projects, they have established faster and more comfortable alternative access to the border gates in the provinces of Ardahan, Iğdır and Ağrı, Karaismailoğlu said, "We contributed to increasing the trade volume with neighboring countries."

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the opening ceremony of the Red Bridge and Akçalar Bridge in Kars. Pointing out that Kars, located on the Silk Road route, has an important place with its historical and cultural values, as well as winter tourism in Sarıkamış and Çıldır Lakes, which have become the symbols of the city, Karaismailoğlu said, “Kars, which has become an important tourism destination with the effect of the Eastern Express. At the same time, it connects our country to the Caucasus. Our Touristic Eastern Express, which we took a break due to the pandemic, is starting its flights again. The first flight from Ankara to Kars will be on 15 December. Our train will depart from Kars on Friday, 17 December. Eastern Express, which will consist of only sleeping and dining wagons, will be arranged twice a week. Our Ankara-Kars route, where 37 thousand passengers have traveled since its first voyage, is shown as one of the 4 most beautiful train routes in the world. With this service, we will make a significant contribution to the revival of winter tourism in the region. We will also allow our young people to get to know this ancient geography and our ancient culture, from east to west, with a comfortable travel.”

RED BRIDGES AND Akçalar BRIDGES ARE VERY IMPORTANT HIGHWAY PROJECTS

"Our region, which provides access to five border gates opening to neighboring countries such as Georgia, Armenia and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, is also important in terms of connecting the Eastern Black Sea Region to the Northern Tetek Line on the North-South axis," said Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, and continued as follows:

“We are aware of the value of each project that will strengthen Kars' transportation network. For this reason, we continue to work on a 7/24 service basis in order to implement transportation and communication investments one by one that keep up with the growing structure of our city and support its development. The Red Bridge and Akçalar Bridges, which we will inaugurate, are also very important highway projects realized in this context. As you know, a part of Kars-Selim Junction – Kağızman Road remains in the dam water basin due to the Trout Dam project works carried out by DSI on Kars Stream. We enabled this section to be crossed with the Red Bridge, which we built with a length of 507 meters. Thanks to the Red Bridge, which will serve as a single road with a bituminous hot mix coating, we have increased the road standard in the Alabalık Dam lake area section of the highway and established an uninterrupted flow of traffic. We also renewed the Akçalar Bridge, at the 11,4th kilometer of the Kars-Susuz Junction-Arpacay Road, as it did not comply with the physical and geometric standards. Our 75-meter-long bridge, built to the east of the road, will serve our people with a hot bituminous mix coating.”

WE CONTRIBUTED TO INCREASE TRADE VOLUME WITH NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

Pointing out that the ultimate aim of his work is to further strengthen trade and tourism with a superior understanding of service, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that this power also increases the level of welfare by returning to the economy of the people and the country as added value. Noting that with these projects, they have established faster and more comfortable alternative access to the border gates in the provinces of Ardahan, Iğdır and Ağrı, Karaismailoğlu said, “We contributed to increasing the trade volume with neighboring countries. In addition, the road will be shortened by 72 kilometers with the completion of the ongoing improvement works on the 37,6-kilometer section of the 3,7-kilometer Kars-Kağızman route, on which the Red Bridge is also located. Thus, a total of 7,5 million TL will be saved annually, 3 million TL from time and 10,5 million TL from fuel oil, and carbon emissions will be reduced by 147 tons.

WE INVESTED 7 BILLION TL IN KARS' TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATION INFRASTRUCTURE

Stating that the strong support given to them is very valuable and that they continue their work to increase the welfare of the citizens, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Because for us; 'Service to people is service to God.' In our motto, there is no other purpose other than serving our nation. We add vitality to production, employment, trade, culture, arts and education life with our ongoing projects all over Turkey. We have never forgotten that in this country the nation is the master and the political power is the servant. We gave to the nation what we took from the nation. We cut the rent, we opened construction sites. In the last 19 years, we have invested 7 billion TL in Kars' transportation and communication infrastructure. In Kars, we have extended the divided roads, which were only 2003 kilometers in 22, to 273 kilometers today. There was no 1 kilometer road covered with BSK here. We built exactly 378 kilometers of BSK paved roads," he said.

WE MADE KARS A CENTER FOR COMBINED TRANSPORTATION

“We have implemented and are making many investments for the development of railway transportation in Kars as well as on highways.” Using his statements, Minister Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“We made Kars a center in combined transportation. By opening the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway line on October 30, 2017, we created the shortest, that is, the most advantageous trade corridor connecting China to London. One service brought others. The logistics industry needed a center in Kars for the storage and distribution of the cargo coming through this trade corridor. We immediately got to work. We built Kars Logistics Center with a transportation capacity of 412 thousand tons and a logistics area of 400 thousand square meters and enabled it to start its business activities. We also brought Kars a new airport with a contemporary and aesthetic architecture that suits it. We increased the passenger capacity to 3,5 million per year. Passenger traffic, which was 2003 thousand in 54, increased to 2020 thousand 381 in 123 despite the pandemic.

IT IS A STRONG ECONOMY THAT TAKES US HEAD UP AGAINST EXTERNAL PRESSURES

Pointing out that infrastructure and projects are indispensable for a strong economy, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “It is a strong economy that will make our Republic and our national independence permanent, and that will keep us upright in the face of external pressures. Infrastructure and projects are indispensable for a strong economy. We can neither forget the damage done to this country in the past by those who circulated saying 'We will be halal', nor can they beg ambassadors and foreign countries to take a position against Turkey today. These people will give the necessary lesson in 2023 to those who raise the stakes in every project. Our country does not have a minute to lose. We must work, produce, develop and raise the welfare of our nation even higher by realizing many other projects. For this reason, we implement our national transportation and infrastructure policies with an understanding that will support the economic and political power of our country. We show our love for our homeland not with words, but with work, work and projects.”

TO PREPARE TURKEY FOR THE FUTURE, WE EMBROIDE OUR WHOLE COUNTRY WITH GIANT INVESTMENTS.

Pointing out that the importance of Turkey, which has been the most attractive geography for the settlement of many civilizations throughout history with its strategic location, has increased even more with investments, projects and services planned and implemented with the mind of the state, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “With huge investments to prepare Turkey for the future, our whole country is almost like embroidery. we are processing. Kars is no longer the old Kars. Just like every province, district, village in Turkey. It digested change, development and renewal; achieved better; There is now a Kars that is excited for the near future, where 'the world connects to Turkey'. We have largely solved Turkey's infrastructure problem that has been going on for years. We have transformed Turkey into an international corridor in every mode of transportation between Asia, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, the Caucasus and the Northern Black Sea. We took our divided highway length across the country from 6 kilometers and increased it to 100 kilometers. The mountains were impenetrable; We crossed the valleys with bridges and tunnels. We increased our total tunnel length from 28 kilometers to 402 kilometers. Until 50, we renewed all of our railways, which were untouched for 632 years. By opening the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway line, we provided an uninterrupted railway connection from Asia to Europe.

TURKEY, SATISFYING WITH WHAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO IT, IS VERY OLD

Karaismailoğlu stated that they made the airline the way of the people and that they reached the top in global aviation, and ended his speech as follows:

“With Istanbul Airport, which we opened with a huge capacity on 29 October 2018, on the anniversary of our Republic, we have made our country the hub of international aviation. We reached the top in global aviation. Remember, 'What is the need for Istanbul Airport?' they were saying. Today, they are silent in the face of the achievements of our airport. A similar objection. Then successes, silence in the face of achievements. We've seen this movie a lot. The world's most important transportation projects Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Osmangazi Bridge, Istanbul-Izmir Highway showed the same attitude. First protest, then silence. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our nation. We listen to them, understand them, and determine the needs of our country accordingly. Being content with what was given to it, Turkey is very old. We have no intention of compromising our 'headstrong' power policies, which we have been maintaining for 19 years, not only against internal but also external forces.”
