SS Izmit Dolmus No. 6 and Taxi Drivers Cooperative, which provides public transportation services on three different routes designated as 'Dolmus Taxi' in Izmit, made an official application to turn its 'red' colored vehicles into 'yellow' taxis.
APPLICATION ACCEPTED
According to the news of Süriye Çatak Tek from Özgürkocaeli; Red minibuses that provide public transportation services between Izmit-Plajyolu, Izmit-Şirintepe and Izmit-Gültepe will be taxis. Owners of 6 vehicles working under the No. 32 Dolmus and Taxi Cooperative applied to UKOME through Kocaeli Chamber of Drivers and Automobiles. The request sent to the commission at the UKOME meeting held in October is expected to be decided at the meeting to be held in December.
PANDEMIC AND TRAM CAUSED DIFFICULTIES
The red minibus taxis, which had to take a small number of passengers due to the extension of the tram project to Kuruçeşme and the pandemic, entered a difficult process economically. In order to survive in the face of the difficulties, the cooperative management and members conveyed their requests to turn into a taxi to the Kocaeli Chamber of Drivers and Bus Drivers, to which they are affiliated. The chamber management gave the request to UKOME. UKOME sent the request to the subcommittee in October.
IF THE DECISION IS MADE, THE DOLLUS WILL BE SOLD
The request for the request, which is expected to come to the UKOME agenda in December, is expected to be approved. With the approval of the decision, the red minibuses will be sold by their owners, and then new yellow taxis will be bought. The taxis to be purchased will either be distributed to taxi stands by UKOME or used for new stops. If the request is rejected, the minibuses will continue to serve on their current routes.
