Young conductor and composer Murat Cem Orhan has been appointed as the General Art Director of the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall affiliated to the İBB. Orhan will take on the task of art director from January.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has appointed young conductor and composer Murat Cem Orhan as the General Artistic Director of Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall (CRR). Orhan, who will take office in 2022, will bring a new and youthful approach to the international concert hall CRR.

Murat Cem Orhan was born in 1981 in Izmir. He completed his secondary education at Saint Joseph French College and his high school education at Private İzmir Science High School. In 1999, he won the Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory Opera-Singing Department. In 2002, he studied at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice, Italy, with a student exchange program. He started to work as a soloist in Izmir State Opera and Ballet in 2003. She took part as a soloist in Falstaff, Nabucco and Carmen operas.

In 2004, at Istanbul University State Conservatory, Prof. He was accepted to Güzin Gürel's graduate class. In 2007, he started his second graduate education at Brooklyn College of Music in New York, USA. He sang lead baritone roles in 14 works in New York. In 2014, he earned the right to become a master's student in Maestro Antonio Pirolli's conducting class at the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory, Department of Composition and Conducting.

He became one of the finalist conductors of the 2018th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition held in Paris in 4. Giving regular concerts with all State Symphony Orchestras and Opera houses in Turkey, Orhan conducted the works of Fazıl Say in Heidelberg Sinfonietta in 2016 in Heidelberg, Germany.

Orhan, who has composed three children's musicals, composed the human characters in Nazım Hikmet's Kuvayi Milliye Epic as a stage work called "Huvayi Milliye'nin Human Landscapes" and the stage works "Day Not to Die", which consists of the works of the Second New Poets. . Continuing his artistic life in Istanbul within the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, Orhan speaks French, English and Italian at an advanced level and German at a daily speaking level.
